PrairiesCan Invests $6.7 Million to Boost Four Edmonton Companies

tl;dr
PrairiesCan has invested $6.7 million in four Edmonton companies—Demir Engineering, Grengine, Levven Electronics, and Care Group—to help them scale their operations and expand into new markets.
The funding, through the Business Scale-up and Productivity program, aims to enhance advanced manufacturing, smart home technology, and digital mental health services, fostering innovation and economic growth.
These investments will create quality jobs, boost domestic and international market reach, and improve mental health care access for underserved rural and Indigenous communities in Canada.
Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) has announced a $6.7 million investment in four Edmonton-based companies to help them scale their operations and expand into new markets. The funding comes through PrairiesCan’s Business Scale-up and Productivity program, aimed at fostering high-growth businesses and creating quality jobs for Canadians.
The recipients of this funding are Demir Engineering, Grengine, Levven Electronics, and Care Group. According to Minister Terry Duguid, who is responsible for PrairiesCan, these investments will accelerate the growth of these companies, strengthen Canada’s advanced manufacturing sector, and enhance access to critical services.
Demir Engineering, a metal alloy product design and manufacturing firm, secured the largest share of the funding at $2.5 million. The investment will enable the company to expand its in-house production of industrial products, increase its workforce, and explore new domestic and international markets.
Battery energy storage manufacturer Grengine and smart home technology firm Levven Electronics received $1.5 million and $1.25 million, respectively. These funds will support their efforts in scaling up advanced manufacturing capabilities and expanding their market reach.
Care Group, the only software-focused company among the four recipients, received a $1.5 million investment. The funding will help scale its digital mental health platform to serve over 50 rural and Indigenous communities across Canada, improving access to mental health care for underserved populations.
This funding round marks Minister Duguid’s first visit to Alberta since taking on the role of overseeing PrairiesCan. The agency emphasized that these investments align with its broader strategy to foster innovation, economic growth, and job creation in the region.
With this latest injection of federal support, these four Edmonton companies are poised to accelerate their expansion and contribute significantly to Canada’s economic and technological landscape.
